Sports & Keep Fit

Keep fit to music

A great way of enjoying music but also keeping healthy. Paul Pelengaris runs these regular events in Holborn. They involve an exercise class set to music with a warm up at the start and a cool down with stretching at the end. In between there is a 25 minute aerobic workout for the heart & lungs followed by floor work with resistive exercises. The instructor follows the RSA exercise to music guidelines & holds their qualification. After the class we all go down to the local pub for a drinks and food (not so healthy).

Badminton

David Erridge runs regular badminton sessions in Croydon. Members usually play mixed doubles, with an average attendance of 17. IVC have 3 courts. No experience is necessary and racquets are available. The cost is only £6. No prior booking is required. There are refreshment afterwards at a nearby pub.

Pilates

Pilates classes take place every Wednesday in Mill Hill. The cost is a competative £10 for one hour. The tutor matches exercises to the fitness and experience of the individual. The classes are strenuous but we also have plenty of fun - just bring a mat.

Swimming

IVC hire the big pool at the the Porchester Pool in Queensway W2, from 8.15pm to 9pm every Wednesday.
You just turn up and tell the pool staff you are with IVC Swimming Club (the sole user of the big pool from 8.15). You pay our treasurer only £7 afterwards. Beginners welcome. From 8.30 some of us play an informal game of water polo in the deep end.

Afterwards we meet at the Porchester pub for refreshments.

And the rest...

Are there any other sports that interest you? Cricket, Tennis and Five-a-side football used to be popular in IVC. Why not re-establish them or perhaps start a new sporting activity  - a great way of making new friends who share your sporting passion.
