IVC has exclusive use of the training pool at the Porchester Centre every Wednesday from 8.00 pm to 9pm. We get access to the changing rooms before 8pm to be ready for the start. Do not pay at the desk on entry but pay our treasurer afterwards (because we have already paid for a block booking). The pool is recently refurbished. They take out the lane ropes so we have lots of freedom to swim around. There is no need to book in advance. Paddington, Bayswater, Queensway and Royal Oak stations are near the pool. Afterwards we meet at the Leinster Arms, Leinster Terrace.

Please join Oxfordshire IVC for a social weekend of events in Oxford. This is our take on celebrating World Cities Day (although ours is a weekend!).
You can come and join us for the whole weekend or just a day or two. Just book or make enquiries with me, Frances Hart.
We start with a social pub evening on the Friday evening. Coffee morning on Saturday - followed by dinner in the evening. Sunday morning there will be a historial walk around Oxford with a talk on what makes Oxford the city it is renown for. (All events choosen for their link to something historical).
For anyone interested, please contact me as I can also provide information about other tours/interests that you could do in your own time. Together with some suggestions on where to book accommodation. All events will be held in Oxford City.
A very popular evening of friendly chat, a pub quiz, live entertainment and sharing music videos.

We are doing something completely different tonight - the group is going out for a meal in a local carvery. Julia has booked a table for eight but should be able to get more places if required. The Carvery is on the 358 and 194 bus routes with the SL5 nearby, and opposite Eden Park Station.
Contact Julia, at least before the 5th November, to book a seat.
The training pool at Porchester Baths is reserved exclusively for IVC from 8pm every Wednesday. The staff take out the lane ropes so we have freedom to swim around. Do not pay at the desk on entry but pay our treasurer afterwards. We have paid for a block booking. Afterwards we meet at the Leinster Arms, Leinster Terrace. A historic pub with friendly staff. Queensway, Bayswater, Royal Oak and Paddington stations are within walking distance.
We hold two pub evenings a month on the first and third Wednesdays, with all the other Wednesdays being Zoom pub evenings. We also normally have a monthly quiz on the last Wednesday of the month, during the Zoom evening, at about 9pm, where a different member of our group prepares the questions to be used each month.
This means that tonight is an actual pub evening.
We are meeting at the Elm Tree pub in Elmers End. This is an Irish pub and is between Elmers End Green and Elmers End tram stop/South-Eastern railway station. Parking is free in the nearby side-streets and in the pub car-park. There are quite a few bus routes in the local vicinity. Most members will be eating here tonight and the meal prices and menu are typical for this type of pub.
Look for the IVC name on one of the tables. We usually try to sit towards the back of the pub on the right hand side, in the restaurant area.
We plan to meet at Stowe House at 11.30 to explore the house.
Lunch at the cafe: 1 - 2.30pm

Some of the Beckenham & Bromley MYN group participate in a monthly Investment Club where we each contribute £25 to invest in UK equities. The meetings are normally held on the second Thursday of the month but temporarily will be on the 3rd Sunday during the afternoon. The Investment Club has been running for just under 25 years, but we always welcome new or potential members. Prospective members are given up to three months to decide whether to join as active members.
The choice of which shares to buy, or to sell, is decided by those particpating in tonight's meeting in a majority decision.. The meeting gives everyone a chance to discuss the stock market, the economy or anything else which members have noted could effect the various share prices.
Contact Roland in advance, preferably by e-mail, so that he can send you a link to click on at the start of the meeting.
