Join North London Meet Your Neighbours for a return visit to the regular Thursday night blues, funk & soul jam at the Moors Bar in Crouch End. The quality of the music is excellent and danceable and many of us join the dancing. Also a friend of ours will be playing. You can order a pizza from a very near by take-away and they will deliver it when ready to you at Moors Bar where you can eat it.

Overall cost of meal with drinks somewhere around £30

"MICHELIN STAR" LUNCH IN SOUTH KENSINGTON
Wed 31 Jul 2019 at: 12:30 to 15:30

In July and August I will be organsing 2 lunches at this excellent restaurant.  The outside Terrace is a lovely place to eat and relax whilst overlooking Prince's Gardens, and, except for the summer months, it would be almost impossible to get a table here at lunch time.

The set lunches are 2 courses for around £18.50p and 3 courses are around £22, and there is an a la care menu from which you can choose one (or more!) courses if you do not feel like a large lunch in the (hopefully!) hot weather!  It is your company, and your enjoyment of the food that matter!   And, we do also get a small discount on the bill.  For IVC members who also subscribe to Tastecard these can be used 3here.   Drinks are extra.

The nearest Underground station is South Kensington and the nearest bus stops are outside The Albert Hall or outside The V and A Museum.  Ognisko is midway between these two attractions  in Exhibition Road, opposite the Mechanical Engineering entrance to Imperial College, and on the right hand side if approaching South Kensington or the V and A.

The table is booked in the name of Crawley. there will be printed IVC Bulletins on display on the table, but should both those means of identification fail then do ring the organiser for the final directions ...

I look forward to seeing you/meeting you.

The Elm Tree, 116 Croydon Road, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 4DF BR3 1EA (Click for Map)

The Elm Tree in Elmers End has now become Beckenham & Bromley MYN's first pub evening of the month as our members decided that it was one of the best of the local watering holes. We try to sit in the restaurant area as the main bar area can be slightly noisy.

The pub is between Elmers End Green and Elmers End tram and South-Eastern Railway Stations.

Parking is free in the nearby side-streets and in the pub car-park.

There are quite a few bus routes in the local vicinity.

Most members will be eating here tonight and the meal prices are typical for this type of pub. Why not come and join us?

ITALIAN LUNCH IN RICHMOND
Mon 5 Aug 2019 at: 12:30 to 15:15

This restaurant is friendly and serves "home-cooked" food.  To find it come out of Richmond station and turn right.  Walk to the large roundabout known locally as Richmond Circus, and walk about half way around it to Kew Road.  This can be a boring and frustrating experience.    Caffe Mamma is about 4 minutes down Kew Road on the right hand side.

Alternatively, cross the road outside Richmond station and take the 65 bus one (longish) stop only and alight at the Evelyn Road stop,  You then cross the road to the restaurant.

I look forward to seeing you here.

Thu 8 Aug 2019 at: 19:30 to 21:30
The Gurkha's Inn, 17 Colomb St, Greenwich SE10 9HA (Click for Map)

Do you love curries like me? We start a tour of some of the best curry houses around London - one a month. Please send me your suggestions.

Greenwich is becoming a hot spot for good curries and we are helped here by the recommendations of the Royal Greenwich Curry Club. Check them out here https://greenwichcurryclub.com/ They produce a discount card which is well worth buying if you live or visit locally.

Tonight we enjoy a return visit the winner of Greenwich Curry Club's 2018 Award as favourite local curry restaurant. Their speciality is excellent quality Nepalese cuisine. We enjoyed it so much last time that we want to return.

After the meal we will find a pub nearby to wash down the food. Senior citizens enjoy a 20% discount tonight.
We will be joined by members of our Greenwich & Lewisham Meetup group. Let Dave know if you are coming so that we can book you a place.

3RD FRIDAY SOCALIZING IN THE BOTANIST, KEW GREEN
Fri 16 Aug 2019 at: 19:30 to 22:00

The Botanist-on-the-Green is usually a comparatively quiet pub on a Friday evening, and that is one of the reasons we meet here.  We do want to chat amongst ourselves!

The bar is well stocked, if sometimes slow, and often "guest" beers and "guest" ciders are available.  To date I haven't spotted "guest" wines or "guest" gins - but with the proliferation of locally produced craft gins I suspect the latter is  inevitable!

The food is reasonable-good, and reasonably priced for the area.

Buses 65 amd 391 are frequent and stop close to the pub.  Alight at the Mortlake Road bus stop.

Bus 65 runs from Ealing Broadway to Kingston via Brentford, Kew Bridge, Richmond, and Ham, and

Bus 391 runs from Richmond to Fulham Broadway via Kew Gardens station, Kew Bridge, Chiswick, and Hammersmith.  If Hammersmith is a convenient changing point for your journey the quickest journey time is if you change onto the 391 at the bus station (upper level).

Kew Green might sound (on paper!) as if it is classically "out in the sticks", but in reality the public transport situation is excellent!

Kew Bridge station is across the River and goes to Clapham Junction.   Beware though the height of the new trains above the platform level is enormous.  The organiser has been hauled and shoved on on occasions.

Kew Gardens station is served by the Underground and the Overground.

On a Friday evening there is plenty of free street parking right outside The Botanist.

I hope you can join us.

Ognisko, the restaurant in The Polish Hearth Club in Exhibition Road. The actual address is 55, Prince's Gate. SW7 2PG (Click for Map)

This is the second of the summer IVC lunches at this excellent restaurant.

For IVC members who also subscribe to Tastecard these can be used here.

MEETING:     Meet inside the bar at Ognisko or at our table from 12.15pm. We hope, circumstances permiting, to eat on the relaxed and pleasant outdoor terrace.
