LIVING HISTORY: THE WORLD'S END, CAMDEN Headline
Sat 21 Sep 2019 at: 4 - 7pm
The World's End pub, 174 Camden High Street, Camden Town, London NW1 0NE NW1 0NE (Click for Map)

The first of a series of enjoyable walks, tours and visits to places of living history and aesthetic interest.

While the world never actually came to an end, Camden has a history of disruptive events.  We'll be finding out more about Camden after a quick drink, starting with the canalside market and sampling some of the goodies on the way.

You'll find me with a hand-made sign 'London IVC' inside the pub (hopefully seated).  After meeting up in the pub, we'll be moving off to start the tour.  Please advise of any mobility or particular needs you may have that I can provide for.  Please text me if you are coming.

If  you'd like to participate by organising or even just suggesting an event in this series, please contact me.

MEETING:     You'll find me with a hand-made sign 'London IVC' & 'Social Club' in the pub (hopefully seated).

GREEK MEAL IN CAMDEN TOWN
Sat 21 Sep 2019 at: 19:30 to 22:00
Alexander the Great Restaurant, 8 Plender Street London NW1 0JT NW1 0JT (Click for Map)

Alexander is currently my favourite of the  Greek Cypriot restaurants in the Camden Town area, with typical Greek Taverna ambience and friendly service, which serves  extremely generous portions of very nicely cooked Greek and Greek Cypriot dishes; their ‘Mixed Grill’, ‘Steak cooked in wine’ and‘King Prawns cooked in garlic, butter & wine’   all being recommended dishes, and their portions are such that starters are often not necessary. Average price of meal with drinks & service around £30 - £35

Please book by mid-day on Thursday 19th September

MEETING:     7.20pm at Mornington Crescent station ticket barrier or 7.30 at IVC table in the Restaurant

Thu 3 Oct 2019 at: 20:00 - 22:45
The Elm Tree, 116 Croydon Road, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 4DF BR3 1EA (Click for Map)

The Elm Tree in Elmers End has now become Beckenham & Bromley MYN's first pub evening of the month as our members decided that it was one of the best of the local watering holes. We try to sit in the restaurant area as the main bar area can be slightly noisy.

The pub is between Elmers End Green and Elmers End tram and South-Eastern Railway Stations.

Parking is free in the nearby side-streets and in the pub car-park.

There are quite a few bus routes in the local vicinity.

Most members will be eating here tonight and the meal prices are typical for this type of pub. Why not come and join us?

THE WILDLIFE OF DUNGENESS
Thu 17 Oct 2019 to Fri 18 Oct
We will stay in a B&B nearby

Two days in Dungeness - a wildlife hot spot with unique plants and insects and a leading bird reserve.

We will share transport there and back as far as possible and stay in B&B.

Dungeness is a headland on the coast of Kent, England, formed largely of a shingle beach in the form of a cuspate foreland. It shelters a large area of low-lying land, Romney Marsh. Dungeness spans Dungeness Nuclear Power Station, the hamlet of Dungeness, and the RSPB bird reserve and many other nearby birding hotspots. There is also a narrow track steam railway maintained by enthusiasts and a great fish and chip restaurant! There are also several smoke houses wher we can purchase smoked fish and cheeses to take home. This isolated location supports an odd population of eccentrics including the famous Derek Jarman pebble garden.

Contact Dave for lift and accomodation information.
