Meet Your Neighbours
London IVC has local groups around London, traditionally know as "Meet Your Neighbours" groups. Why not start one in your area - a great way of getting to meet your IVC neighbours, socialising and making new friends in your area.
Wimbledon
The Wimbledon group meets from time to time, usually near Wimbledon station in the winter and in Wimbledon Village in the warmer weather. We usually get between 6 to 12 people coming along for a drink and possibly a meal. Apart from regulars we often get other occasional vistors from IVC since we meet close to Wimbledon main line and District line stations (10 - 15 mins from Waterloo or Putney). All are welcome.
City & East London
City and East London has been in existence for some 7 years and is run by Neil Barker and Wendy Press. It usually organises one event a month - traditionally a mid week pub night in a convenient pub, which offers reasonably priced food as well as a range of wines, real ales, lagers and soft drinks. It has met in pubs in Stratford and Stepney Green as well as the current location - the Hamilton Hall pub next to Liverpool Street station, which is convenient for City workers as well as East Londoners - and members from all parts of London. Members come and go at different times, and some eat. There is no need to book for the events - just turn up and look for the London IVC printed programme - the Bulletin - on display. City and East London are always happy to learn of new venues and even happier to have offers of hosting for events at other venues - the more events the better!
Beckenham & Bromley
Roland Lees hosts two regular monthly visits to pubs in this area. Venues include the Bridge House Tavern, a wine bar style pub with good food, and the Moon & Stars in Penge High Street. The latter is a Wetherspoon establishment, so there is reasonably priced food on offer as well as a good range of drinks. They visit on Thursdays which is curry night.
Haringey & Finchley
Alan Astles organises visits to some of the excellent pubs in this part of London from tiem to time. The pubs chosen usually feature plenty of real ales and wines and good value quality food.
We would like members to organise more local events like these in their area. A great way to make new friends in your local area! The Activities Secretary can always provide advice and help if you are interested.
