The Nature Lovers group gives members an opportunity to experience practical, hands-on conservation work. Most of our work is at Westbere Copse Local Nature Reserve in West Hampstead. This site has benefitted greatly from the work of IVC volunteers over the years, who have been key in making it a great example of how a small urban nature reserve can have good wildlife value.
This is a gentle and undemanding way to become acquainted with the world of nature conservation. Tools training and first aid cover are all provided. Its a great way of making new friends in a relaxed atmosphere. We usually work in the reserve on the second Sunday of the month, from 12-3pm. Nature reserve visits
We also make visits to nature sites such as the Lea Valley and the Wetlands Centre. In 2013 we plan a weekend camping in a private forest in Kent where we will join a dormouse survey as well as enjoying a midnight party in the forest and a bonfire and BBQ.
Lectures & workshops
In addtion we have a programme of visits to lectures and workshops on willdlife subjects, such as the popular nature & conservation lectures at Birkbeck college..
