Originally founded about 60 years ago, by graduates who missed the opportunities provided by their student union, IVC admits a wide range of like-minded people who want to do active things in their leisure time. It is a non-profit making club run for the benefit of members, and most events are run by members for members. Club members are informed of club events via our monthly Bulletin, and also this Website.

Clubs Within a Club
The following are some of our popular activities for which a regular programme runs within our programme as a whole (many sports events being seasonal, of course). These activities form "Sub-clubs" within the Club as a whole. Sub-clubs also exist for entertainment trips e.g. theatre, cinema, opera, ballet and jazz, rhythm 'n blues. In addition to its varied programme of activities, the club holds a weekly club night close to our Covent Garden headquarters, and a variety of social events, including several major parties a year held in central London venues.

Whilst London IVC prides itself on being open to new members of all ages, we do have a 20's & 30's sub-club specialising in social events in the more trendy wine bars, lively theme pubs and clubs that attract young professionals in the West End.

Many hands!
We are a non-profit making club run by members for members. Most of our events are organised and run by enthusiastic volunteers among our members. Vary it! IVC provides a framework for you to experience a range of pursuits, whether sporting or cultural. Most activities cater for everyone from complete beginners to enthusiasts. Get to know new people as you try something new.
Regular activities. Many activities take place on a weekly, or otherwise regular, basis, enabling you to pursue a chosen sport or other hobby with other like-minded people.
Don't break the bank! Most events are very affordable with cost limited to that of admissions/food/accommodation etc. (some admin costs apply to weekends, parties and some adventure activities).

Country walks and London heritage walks are free with no pre-booking required. Most sports and cultural day or evening events are at admissions/facilities cost only, often with no pre-booking required. Most weekends away are very affordably priced.

Expand your social horizons
There is a lively social side to the club, however IVC is not a singles club and has a fair number of married as well as single members. As with so much in life, doing something tends to bring out the best in people, and many members find particular social dividends from activity-centred events such as sports, activity weekends and dance.

Club Discounts
IVC members can claim discounted admission at major sports facilities in Covent Garden, near the venue of our regular Club Nights.
Members can also claim discounts at certain major outdoors suppliers in London, on presentation of a current membership card.

Current Annual Membership Fees

Our annual membership fees have been kept low for 2010 for the sixth year running, and the full single fee has only risen £5 in 20 years! Our outgoings have remained static, whilst our membership has been increasing in size. As a non-profit making club it was only fair that our membership fees were reduced accordingly.
